A Unified Approach for Telecoms

Posted by Caitlin O'Hagan on October 20th, 2010

The average telephone handset has evolved, and as a result thousands of start-up companies are profiting out of the Telecom sector’s advances, supplying the various add-ons which inevitably accompany any new wave of technology.

Such innovations were used by the operators to supplement the pricey voice packages. However, the operators are now finding themselves in the hands of the ever-creative software/hardware companies and a changing consumer culture. iPhone appstore was the first to take fiscal advantage from operators’ customers, creating a financial redistribution within the Telecom industry.

With the telecom giants left to maintain the costly infrastructure that supports this ever growing new-media industry, the outlook for today’s communication service providers is set to get worse in a new 4G world where broadband is everywhere; LTE, WiMax, FTTX and cloud services to name a few..  The NGT APAC Summit committee is only too aware of this and believes that they must act now to prepare for the future.  How can telecom giants sustain increasing costs and avoid being relegated to the sidelines as bit-pipe providers?

To answer this question visionaries from companies such as Skype – Dan Neary, VP and GM Asia Pacific, Telenor - Sanjay Vaghasia, CTO, Vodafone – Durgadas Misha, Head of IT Outsourcing, Deutsche Telekom – Neil Millner, Head of Network & IT Procurement, and Virgin Mobile – Carl Ambrose, CIO, have joined a closed door meeting at the NGT APAC summit last week in Singapore to provide a unified investment strategy and Long Term Evolution (LTE) across the existing 3G networks. Such increased download speeds will allow the telecom industry to capitalize on the change in consumer habits and provide wider service offerings.

‘Such a meeting has been a long time coming, large operators have been losing revenue as the communication market has diversified, network optimization should lend to them finding new revenue streams as the level of service can expand’ – NGT Summit Director Asia Pacific.

A lack of focus has brought about inefficiencies related to roaming issues for users, and limited development efforts for each technology, the world is soon to be “unified” under LTE and at that point the industry can expect much greater economies of scale for both hardware makers and services providers, the NGT APAC committee are sure to take advantage of this.

QT Talk Enables Affordable International Calling

Posted by vanessa on October 15th, 2010

QT TalkIf you make frequent international calls you probably have had at least one negative experience either with a bad connection or a shock when your minutes are used up quicker than expected due to hidden fees. QT Talk has been aggressively marketing its PUREMinutes (PUROSMinutos) plan to help combat these types of issues and offer instead – straightforward high quality international calling. ‘Pure and Simple’ is the foundation for all of its calling programs – affordable plans that are easy to understand without hidden fees and surcharges. The plans are easily enabled right from your cell phone or landline to make pin-less international calling fast and easy.

QT TALK UNVEILS FREE INTERNATIONAL CALLING PHONE APPLICATION FOR BLACKBERRY® SMARTPHONES

Posted by Jaymie Scotto on October 6th, 2010

New York, NY – October 6, 2010QT Talk, a leading prepaid international long distance provider for residential, business, and mobile services, announces today the launch of its “QT Talk International” phone application for BlackBerry® Smartphones, available as a free download that will instantly grant users $3 of free international calling. The application is designed to provide users with a simple, cost effective way to make international calls from their mobile devices, while also granting a “bonus” incentive of free calls anywhere in the world. Once downloaded to a user’s mobile device, QT Talk will automatically become the user’s international call carrier, allowing the user to dial internationally quickly and easily.

“In this day and age, it is all about saving time and money,” states Eric Ramos, President of QT Talk. “With QT Talk’s international BlackBerry Smartphone application, downloading is quick, free and seamless; instantly granting users with free international calling across the QT Talk network.”

With American consumers paying an average $1.09 per phone application, compared with just twenty ($0.20) cents or less in several other regions, according to wireless consultant, Chetan Sharma, the QT Talk International BlackBerry Smartphone application will do the opposite.  It will pay its users to download the application, offering $3 of international calls upon installation.

“It’s a win-win for customers,” continues Ramos. “Not only are they receiving free international calls, but they are subscribing to a high quality, inexpensive international carrier that will allow for seamless calling around the world, eliminating the need – and often higher cost – of other international calling carriers.  Because of our cost-effective programs we are seeing over 35% of free trial users convert to subscriber accounts for on-going use.”

With the QT Talk International BlackBerry Smartphone application, QT Talk’s flexible, cost-effective international calling carrier service could replace the more costly international carrier services available with most mobile phone plans. With QT Talk there are no hidden fees or extra charges.
