ViaWest Expands its Hillsboro Complex Oregon Data Center Facility

Posted by Jaymie Scotto on May 3rd, 2012

ViaWest is expanding its Oregon data center facility, the Hillsboro Complex. This expansion adds 23,000 sq. ft. of usable raised floor and will total over 50,000 sq. ft. of sellable space, making this SSAE 16/SOC 1 and SOC 3 compliant  facility the largest in the state of Oregon. Driven by significant growth in the region over the past year, ViaWest’s Oregon data center expansion project will serve customers across all verticals and company sizes seeking additional capacity within the Hillsboro Complex.

From the conception of the facility, ViaWest designed the Hillsboro Complex with growth and expansion in mind. ViaWest constructed Hillsboro 1 and Hillsboro 2 with the latest power and installation systems, which allows for the easy addition of space in an energy efficient and green manner. Hillsboro 2 will leverage this existing infrastructure, which includes 2(N+1) UPS systems that further enable the facility for high-density configurations.  Together with Energy Trust of Oregon, ViaWest researched and tested cooling solutions in order to select the most energy efficient system available. Like all ViaWest data center facilities, the Hillsboro Complex is focused on the region it serves, staffed 24×7 by local experts in engineering and support.

Guess What Company Again Made OBJ’s List of Fastest Growing Companies?

Posted by DeanPerrine on May 2nd, 2012

THIS COMPANY!

With 199.6% revenue growth in the last 3 Years – Optelian is recession busting at the speed of light (couldn’t resist) via organic and strategic acquisition growth…and good old-fashioned grass roots customer service! It makes sense then that Optelian, an international provider of optical transport systems, was recently named to the Ottawa Business Journal’s list of Ottawa’s Fastest Growing Companies of 2012 – an honor they also received in 2011.

The company’s comprehensive suite of advanced optical solutions are engineered and manufactured in-house, in North America, which enables rapid optical network deployment and expansion, expediting time to market and increasing revenue. With more than 19,000 systems and 328,000 wavelengths installed, Optelian is recognized industry-wide for exceptional product quality, speed of delivery, custom-design capabilities. But don’t tell them that! Optelian rests its head (and attributes much of its success) on a customer-centric philosophy that runs company deep.

On the OBJ announcement, Optelian CEO, David Weymouth maintained…
“Listening to customers…that’s so important. It never goes away, and everyone in the organization has got to be customer focused.”

And here’s how they did it…

Nominated companies must be headquartered in the National Capital Region and privately held. Companies must have had minimum revenues of $100,000 in the first fistcal year under review and, by year three, a minimum of $1 million. Companies are ranked by percentage revenue growth between year one and year three of their most recent three year period.
