Ciena® Corporation announces it has been selected by Lightower Fiber Networks to support the delivery of Ethernet services and managed wavelengths at bandwidths up to 100 Gbps. This service will be available immediately to enterprise and service provider customers throughout Lightower’s footprint. Powered by Ciena’s coherent optical technology, Lightower’s end-to-end fiber-based solutions include 40-Gigabit and 100-Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) services as well as 100G managed wavelengths.
Lightower’s new 100G solutions will leverage Ciena’s 6500 Packet-Optical Platform equipped with WaveLogic™ coherent optical processors to enable delivery of 100G managed wavelength services, and 40 GbE and 100 GbE traffic transported over 100G wavelengths. This will allow Lightower customers to seamlessly scale their networking solutions to support growing capacity demands from the use of multimedia and high definition applications across many key industries including media, finance, telecom, healthcare and government.

The international conference will assess a wide range of issues including the increased fiber deployment occurring at metro, rural and national levels and the funding mechanisms supporting those types of builds. Attendees of the Dark Fibre Convention will examine customer segments and geographic areas offering new growth opportunities in emerging markets, including Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey and Africa. XKL looks forward to participating at the event again this year as the convention sets the stage for the latest discussions in the dark fiber industry.

The Cyan Z-Series packet-optical transport platform (P-OTP) has been deployed in multiple Zayo markets over the past two years, demonstrating carrier class reliability, scalable Ethernet services, along with valuable service management and SLA reporting capability in the Cyan360 Software portfolio. Cyan’s hardware and software solutions allow for Zayo to cost-effectively meet the growing demand for capacity and more advanced network infrastructure technologies in Manhattan.
