The world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone and leading colocation provider, Hurricane Electric, has expanded its network to TELEHOUSE America’s New York Chelsea data center. Located in Chelsea at 85 10th Avenue, the TELEHOUSE Chelsea Center boasts best-in-class N+1 power infrastructure and multiple layer security measures to make it a strategic location for wholesale, enterprise, service providers and carrier clients.
“We are honored to have Hurricane Electric extend its network into our Chelsea facility,” states Fred Cannone, Director of Sales and Marketing at TELEHOUSE America. “This expansion allows our customers to easily, cost effectively connect to Hurricane Electric’s global IPv6 network and exchange traffic directly with more than 2,100 different networks and 52 major exchange points.”
Hurricane Electric first deployed IPv6 on its global backbone in 2001. Hurricane Electric’s global Internet backbone is one of the few that is IPv6-native and does not rely on internal tunnels for its IPv6 connectivity. Hurricane Electric presently connects to more than 1,600 associated IPv6 backbones. In addition to TELEHOUSE New York Chelsea, Hurricane Electric also has points of presence at TELEHOUSE’s Voltaire facility in Paris and Docklands East in London.
“This new point of presence continues our strong relationship with TELEHOUSE as our network continues to grow,” comments Reid Fishler, Director of Carrier Services at Hurricane Electric. “Colocating at TELEHOUSE New York Chelsea allows customers of TELEHOUSE to exchange traffic directly with Hurricane Electric’s global Internet backbone, while giving them additional connectivity options.”
