Mobile Backhaul Asia’s recent conference in Bangkok was a great success. As a Dark Fiber Community (DFC) Media Partner, Mobile Backhaul Asia partnered with the DFC to further promote its conference to the global community.

Hibernia Media and Colt Enter Strategic Agreement to Connect Global Media Markets

Hibernia Media has entered a strategic relationship with Colt to connect their European and US broadcast networks globally. Colt has selected Hibernia Media’s platform to deliver managed broadcast services from its customers in Europe into the US, expanding reach and creating a seamless content-delivery system. Colt is Europe’s leading information delivery platform.

Hibernia Media will provide Colt’s European customers a variety of services including over 45,000km of terrestrial and trans-Atlantic fiber connectivity, over 100 POPs in the US and Europe, with another 50+ on-net media customer nodes and world-class Content Exchange Center (CEC) for native HD content delivery from programmers to cable and consumer satellite distributors. The agreement helps broadcasters meet the increasing industry demand for high quality content by providing unmatched connectivity options for US and European media companies, A full complement of video transmission services, including HD and 3D delivery, for both full time and event-based services will be available through this partnership. The service will be available to customers from May 15, 2012.

Zayo to Present at COMPTEL PLUS Spring 2012 Convention & EXPO

Zayo Group President and CEO, Dan Caruso will speak at the COMPTEL PLUS Spring 2012 Convention & EXPO taking place on April 15-18 at the Marriott Marquis in San Francisco.

Dan will speak on the “Navigating the Capital Markets: Calm Seas or Choppy Waters?” panel held on Tuesday, April 17th at 9:00am. Zayo Completes Nashville Fiber Expansion

Zayo has completed its fiber network construction in the greater Nashville, TN area, nearly doubling the fiber route mileage.  With this expansion, the fiber route mileage in the Nashville area is now 104 miles. These additional miles will allow Zayo to serve the markets of Franklin, Brentwood and Oak Hill with dark fiber, Ethernet and wavelength services.

In addition to the Nashville network project, Zayo offers it metro and longhaul services in Johhnson City and Kingsport and has recently completed expansions in Memphis including extending its fiber-to-the-tower (FTT) network into Northern Mississippi. Zayo also operates carrier-neutral colocation facilities in Nashville and Memphis to securely house customer equipment and provide access to a broad range of carrier networks.

Cynergy Selects Zayo to Support Client Connectivity Needs

Zayo is working with Cynergy in a channel partnership that will offer Cynergy clients Zayo’s services to sites throughout its Atlanta network. This partnership has been recently leveraged through Cynergy sourcing a 1 Gig Ethernet and 10 Gig ring for Micfo, an international web hosting company. Zayo’s connectivity from 56 Marietta in Atlanta to its data center facility in Atlanta allowed for Cynergy to provide this solution for Micfo.

Through working with Zayo, companies like Cynergy are able to supply clients with connectivity solutions into key facilities. Zayo is looking to work with a select number of Channel Partners focused on providing Bandwidth Infrastructure solutions to reach a broader group of customers needing fiber-based communication and colocation services.

Zayo Expands EAGLE-Net Alliance’s Network Capabilities in Colorado

Zayo Group has signed a second agreement with EAGLE-Net Alliance to expand its network capabilities throughout Colorado. The addition of this agreement brings the total fiber footprint Zayo provides EAGLE-Net in Colorado and Wyoming to nearly 675 miles. EAGLE-Net is a Colorado intergovernmental entity which operates a cost-sharing cooperative procuring and distributing high speed broadband services to more than 230 community anchor institutions.

This network expansion includes 162 miles of fiber connecting locations from Denver to Burlington in Eastern Colorado. As the terms of EAGLE-Net’s BTOP infrastructure grant mandates the statewide network be complete by August 31, 2013, this IRU with Zayo will help fulfill part of these requirements effectively.

Zayo owns and operates 2,421 miles of dark and lit metro fiber throughout the Rocky Mountain region including Utah, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico.  For more information on Zayo’s network, visit www.zayo.com.

Zayo Group to Acquire Arialink

Zayo has executed a definitive agreement to acquire Arialink, Mid-Michigan’s largest fiber optic service provider. With the acquisition, Zayo adds 930 new route miles to its national footprint, including 400 miles of dense metro networks in Lansing and Ann Arbor. Arialink provides Ethernet, dark fiber and optical transport services to education, government agency and enterprise customers across its 437 on-net building footprint. The interconnected networks will enable end-to-end Bandwidth Infrastructure services between Zayo’s existing 45,000 mile national network and Arialink’s extensive network in Michigan.

Arialink recently was awarded and has begun construction of a 190-mile network to interconnect major healthcare facilities as part of an FCC grant to the Michigan Public Health Institute. This unique network will support connectivity to healthcare facilities in rural parts of the state and bring broadband services to underserved communities.

The transaction, subject to customary approvals, is expected to close during the second quarter of 2012.

Zayo Announces Plans to Acquire AboveNet

Zayo Group, LLC and AboveNet, Inc. (NYSE: ABVT) announce that their boards of directors have approved a definitive agreement under which Zayo will acquire AboveNet for approximately $2.2 billion. As part of the transaction, GTCR, a leading Chicago-based private equity firm, will make an equity investment in Zayo.

As AboveNet and Zayo’s business models are closely aligned with a focus on high bandwidth fiber-based communications services for enterprises, government and carrier customers, the combination will create value for customers, employees and investors. The transaction, subject to customary approvals, is expected to close in mid 2012.
