Criteria to Consider When Choosing a Public Relations (PR) Firm

Posted by Jaymie Scotto on March 9th, 2009

On occasion, we are contacted by companies that aren’t quite sure how to articulate what they’re looking for in a Public Relations firm.  There are a variety ways to evaluate a potential PR partner, so we compiled 10 pointers to help you decide:

Criteria to Consider When Choosing a Public Relations (PR) Firm

  1. Know the goals you want to achieve when bringing on a PR firm and be open to clarification, feedback and additional opportunities that the PR firm should suggest.  The ideal firm should offer innovative ideas of their own.
  2. Does the PR firm understand your market?  Can the PR firm you are evaluating demonstrate target market success in your area of business?
  3. Does the PR firm have relationships with industry journalists, media, analysts that can influence your target market?  Can they demonstrate coverage for their past or existing clients within your target market?
  4. How does the PR firm deliver your messages to the marketplace?  Are they 100% dependent on Press Releases or do they use a variety of techniques and formats to get your message out?
  5. Does the firm do their own research, writing and pitching?  And are your day-to-day contacts the individuals that do the work or do they simply manage your account (i.e. they aren’t the ones actually doing the pitching)
  6. How does the firm manage your account?  Consider how often you meet with the PR firm and how they deliver against the target objectives that are outlined for them? Who tracks their deliverables?
  7. Can the PR firm demonstrate results that have attributed to market awareness on behalf of their past or existing clients?
  8. What tools and strategies does the PR firm employ to help you get your message out?
  9. Can the PR firm bring added-value to your business by providing full-service capabilities that include sound business-related advice, print and web design services, surveys, marketplace audits and more?
  10. How responsive is the firm?  Are their people professional, take you seriously and do they provide sound advise that fits your business requirements?  Can they be flexible in order to meet the needs you have for your business?

Calling all Agents, VARs and Channel Partners

Posted by Jaymie Scotto on March 5th, 2009

March 5, 2009:  Earlier this week, iland Internet Solutions announced the launch of their Partner Program which will enable Agents, VARs, resellers and Channel Partners to leverage the iland High Availability VMware platform to provide an effective, fully redundant and reliable virtualized solution leveraging a variety of infrastructure technologies that include colocation, Internet transit, diverse transport options and more.

What is important to note, is that iland is the only company publicly discussing the virtues of a hybrid solution; one that leverages existing infrastructure and technology investments already in place while maximizing the investment by deploying ‘virtual’ back-ups, disaster recovery facilities, and additional expandable virtual footprints.  These solutions enable companies to migrate carefully and efficiently into the virtual realm.

P to V – The Tools Necessary to differentiate your business

Physical to Virtual is their motto and they can support companies looking to jump right into it or simply feel it out.  Their customized solutions are an ideal fit for partners since they remain vendor agnostic, network neutral and can manage and integrate a variety of different platforms to suit the end user’s specific requirements.  Partners have the opportunity to use their own infrastructure, service provider relationships and leverage their hardware vendors to work with iland to deploy and effectively manage a solution that in the end, only makes their Partners look good.

Pangaea Networks launches Metro Ethernet to the Enterprise in

New York City and New Jersey

Metro Ethernet Network Connectivity Provides Diverse Capacity at Flat Rate Tiered Pricing Schedule with Increments Starting at 2 Mbps

Glen Rock, NJ; Las Vegas, NV & Dallas, TX (March 2, 2009) - Pangaea Networks, a niche provider of Carrier Class Metro Ethernet transport services in the New York City and New Jersey markets, today announced the launch of their PANMetro™ Ethernet service available to approximately 700 new commercial Enterprise buildings throughout the region.  This launch extends Pangaea’s existing footprint throughout Manhattan and New Jersey to locations where fewer Ethernet alternatives are currently available.

“PANMetro™ Ethernet enables Carriers and their Enterprise customers an alternative platform to connect with one another within a Carrier Class environment that delivers QoS and supports QinQ over dedicated bandwidth infrastructure”, stated Kevin Black, Vice President of Business Development at Pangaea Networks.

Network Diversity and Rapid Installation Intervals are the key deliverables that are expected from both Carriers and Enterprise customers in Tier 1 markets.  By effective utilization of the Ethernet Network to Network Interface (NNI), Pangaea has mitigated many of the risk factors that had previously contributed to delayed installation intervals to deliver a service with full bandwidth availability to the customer in an accelerated time frame.”
