Do You Know Your Network of Influencers?
Marketing, Public Relations, Telecom, Telecommunications August 22nd, 2008Everyone you interact with influences decisions that other people make, however small or large they may be. But who are these ‘Influencers?’ Surprisingly almost everyone you meet is an influencer. Think about it. You’re at a business conference. Everyone you meet networks, they’re at buffets, getting drinks, hailing cabs, influencing other buyers. Your impression is left on the indivual as not just you ‘sally’ or ‘joe’ but ‘Cozinc’ or ‘Ltmd Co’. Of course influencers go beyond Conference interactions. They are your typical Consultants, Sales Reps, Executives, Press, Analysts, Friends and Family.
The most difficult task any company, or individual for that matter, has is realizing that each of these ‘influencers’ understands a different language (I think I heard every husband and wife reading this together smile quietly to themselves). Messages for sales, consultants, press and family, etc. are all different. Why? knowledge levels vary, as well as layers of interest, not to mention the types of messages they’re looking for. Messages need to be conveyed carefully, designed for the right target audience so they know you’re talking to them. Otherwise, they’ll look around the room, assume you’re talking to someone else, and read on. Tata!
