The Connection Newsletter

Issue #2

Thursday June 11, 2009

Welcome Note

Welcome to the second issue of The Connection, the Lexent Metro Connect quarterly newsletter. This newsletter is designed to keep you, our valued customers, partners and journalists, updated on our company's latest news, network builds, service initiatives and events. This month, we are featuring our expansion news; even in a down economy, telecom infrastructure in the greater New York City area continues to thrive.

Though 2009 may not be remembered as a year of growth and expansion in the greater business community, here at Lexent Metro Connect we’re working harder than ever to expand our fiber footprint to meet the needs of our growing customer base. We’ve found that the current economic climate has increased interest in dark fiber as enterprise customers look for creative ways to cut their costs without cutting capacity. Ironically, these customers ultimately are finding the cost savings are resulting in greater capacity, decreased latency and increased security in their networks.

This quarter we  continued our expansion to New Jersey and have added 165 Halsey in Newark, NJ to our on-net building list. Customers are now able to connect between New Jersey and New York City on Lexent Dark Fiber through two diverse non-commuter river crossings. We are currently in the process of expanding our fiber footprint to Secaucus data centers as well, including Equinix IBX Center and 275 Hartz Way. We are currently accepting pre-orders for these Secaucus builds at "early bird" discounted rates.  Additionally, we continue to evaluate data center opportunities in the NJ region that will better serve our New York based customers.

Also, we are excited to announce the completion of a fiber circuit with our partner Atlantic Metro Communications, connecting the newly-built Yankee Stadium to the major carrier hotels in the New York metro area.

Please read on for further details on our expansion projects as well as our customer testimonial by Hibernia Atlantic. As always, feel free to contact us at info@lexent.net or join us for a dark fiber discussion on our Plaxo, Facebook,   and LinkedIn groups. We appreciate your thoughts and our aim is to build a network that meets both current and future needs of our customers.

Warm Regards,

Ray La Chance
President & CEO

Let's Play Ball!  Lexent Delivers a Dark Fiber Network to the Newly-Constructed Yankee Stadium for Atlantic Metro Communications

Lexent is proud to announce it has constructed a secure and redundant dark fiber circuit on behalf of its partner Atlantic Metro Communications, a SAS 70 managed Internet service provider offering colocation, IP transit, nation-wide transport and New York metro area dark fiber solutions. The now-completed, custom-designed, secure and redundant network connects the newly-built Yankee Stadium with the area's top carrier hotels and to over 90 enterprise buildings throughout NY metro area.  This new dark fiber network is now available for service providers and broadcasters within and around New York City to lease and deliver the latest communications services to Yankee fans, such as streaming video to and from the Stadium.

Atlantic Metro worked closely with Lexent on the network's design in order for the construction to meet end-user customer deadlines.  In addition, both companies worked together directly with the hardware vendors to ensure the custom dark fiber network would meet streaming video's complex network requirements.

The new dark fiber network construction provides the Bronx Bombers and their fans with state-of-the-art infrastructure and the ability to transmit high-def streaming video, instant video replays and more between the stadium and content delivery networks in the New York metro area securely.

The new network, which includes diverse entrances into the Stadium, provides direct access to key carrier hotels, including 60 Hudson Street, 32 Avenue of the Americas, 75 Broad Street, 85 Tenth Avenue, 111 Eighth Avenue, 325 Hudson Street, 601 West 26th Street, 1095 Avenue of the Americas and 300 Kennedy Boulevard East in Weehawken, NJ.
